When a customer is locked out at 11pm, can they find you?

Locksmith work is built on urgency. Someone is standing on a doorstep in the rain with no keys, or they've broken a key in the boot of their car, or a shop owner can't open up first thing on Monday. They type "locksmith near me" into a phone, they pick one of the first results, and they call. If your WordPress site isn't in those top results, the job goes to a competitor. We've built locksmith websites that load in under two seconds on mobile, with the phone number sticky to every page and the MLA badge front and centre. That combination is what turns a search into a callout.

A locksmith website also has to do something most trade sites don't: prove the person turning up is safe to let into your home. We build sites that lead with MLA membership, DBS check status, public liability insurance, and uniformed vans. We split your services into three clear pages, domestic, auto, and commercial, because each customer is searching for something different. A homeowner locked out wants a different page from a fleet manager who needs a master-key system. Both need to find you fast, trust you quickly, and call without thinking about it.

Everything You Need to Succeed Online

The features that matter most for locksmiths

24/7 Emergency Callout Banner

A fixed banner with your phone number and "24/7 Locksmith" messaging that stays visible on every page. When someone is stuck outside at midnight, you're one tap away.

MLA & DBS Trust Display

Your Master Locksmiths Association registration and DBS-checked badge displayed prominently with a direct link to verify. Builds instant trust with anyone letting you near their front door.

Service Area Coverage

Individual pages for each town and postcode you cover, with average response times. This is how local locksmiths outrank the national directories in Google.

Domestic, Auto & Commercial Pages

Three clear service routes so a homeowner, a driver, and a shop owner each land on a page written for them. Better conversion, better Google relevance.

Online Booking for Planned Work

Lock changes, key cutting, and security upgrades booked directly through your site. Frees the phone for emergencies and cuts the back-and-forth on planned jobs.

Live Review Display

Pull in your Google and Checkatrade reviews automatically. A 4.9-star average sells your service in a way no sales copy can match.

Key Pages We Build

Every website includes the essential pages your customers expect.

  • Emergency Lockouts A dedicated landing page for 24/7 callouts with prominent phone number, typical response times, and the areas you cover at short notice.
  • Auto Locksmith Services Detailed page covering vehicle key programming, transponder coding, key fob replacement, and which makes and models you support.
  • Commercial Security & Access Control For shops, offices, and managed estates: master-key suites, access control fitting, safe opening, and contract maintenance.
  • Service Areas Individual pages for each town you cover, helping you rank for "locksmith in [location]" searches.
  • About and Credentials Your story, qualifications, MLA membership, DBS check, public liability cover, and any local trade body affiliations.

What I'd Build First for a Locksmith, and Why

Locksmiths are the vertical we know best: the case study further down this page is a real client of ours, ranked against incumbents with twenty years' head start. First build: the emergency lockout page, engineered for mobile speed with the phone number in the first screenful and published call-out pricing. Locked-out customers call the first credible result; credibility at 11pm is speed plus a straight answer on price.

What I'd reject: scare-tactic content about burglary statistics. It's the default filler in this trade and it reads as manipulative. Locksmithing is unregulated, anyone can buy a van and a logo, so the honest play is verification: a linked MLA membership, real local reviews, and published prices do what fear-mongering can't.

The rules your website has to respect

  • Master Locksmiths Association: the de facto standard in an unregulated trade; MLA approval means vetting, inspection, and DBS checks, so link it prominently
  • Secured by Design: the police-preferred specification; referencing it on product pages shows you fit to a standard, not just to a price
  • Sold Secure testing: independent product testing; naming tested lock grades in your content demonstrates expertise customers can verify

How Lockerfella ranked #1 on Google, ChatGPT and Gemini in 21 days, with zero backlinks

Screenshot of the Lockerfella locksmith homepage. Yellow 24/7 emergency bar at the top reads "No call-out fee, open right now, bank holidays included". Hero headline "Locked out? I'm on my way." overlaid on a dusk photo of Sean Hamilton fitting a lock at a customer's front door beside his white van. Sticky Call Now and WhatsApp buttons visible bottom-right.

Lockerfella · Independent locksmith, Brewood & West Midlands

Sean Hamilton, 30 years on the tools, runs Lockerfella as a one-man-one-van operation covering Wolverhampton, Cannock, Stafford, Walsall and the surrounding South Staffordshire villages. We launched his site on 8 April 2026. Nineteen days later, ChatGPT and Gemini both placed Lockerfella at #1 for "Brewood locksmith". Twenty-one days in, Google caught up. The site had zero backlinks at the time. The thing that ranked it was non-commodity content, schema on every page from day one, and the full nine AI Discovery Files at the root of the domain.

  • #1 on Google, ChatGPT & Gemini
  • 21 days from launch to triple #1
  • 100/100 mobile PageSpeed (all 4 metrics)
  • 0 backlinks needed

“The person you ring is the person who turns up, and the person who turns up is the person who fixes your door.”

See E-E-A-T in practice

These six pages on Lockerfella's site are why AI engines and Google rank it first. Open any of them and you'll see the pattern.

  • About Sean Named owner, 30 years on the tools, DBS-checked, £1M public liability with Simply Business, 12-month workmanship guarantee, real photos of the man and the van.
  • Services First-person technical writing with named standards (TS007 3-star, BS 3621) and brand specifics (Avocet ABS, Ultion, Mul-T-Lock), plus the rare "what I won't do" transparency block.
  • Pricing All prices published openly. No call-out fee, the phone quote is the price you pay, payment after the job is finished. Most trade sites hide pricing behind "call for quote".
  • Areas Hub Hub for 18 hand-written area pages with explicit postcode ranges (ST15-ST19, WV1-WV14, WS1-WS15, B1-B76, DY1-DY4), response-time rings and area-specific housing-stock patterns.
  • Wolverhampton Area Three named real Recent Call-Outs with verified streets, dates and prices. First-person "from the doorstep" diagnostic walkthrough. Editorially reviewed by Sean Hamilton, with a visible review date.
  • Stafford Area Same pattern as Wolverhampton with a different real customer set, plus a named customer testimonial and itemised pricing per job. Editorially reviewed and dated.

Lockerfella was built hand-coded to hit aggressive Core Web Vitals and AI-search targets faster than a WordPress build could have allowed. The same SEO, schema and AI Discovery Files patterns apply directly to a WordPress build.
